Regular Past Tense

The pretérito perfeito is the past tense you reach for to say "I did", "I went", "I ate". For regular verbs, drop the infinitive ending and add these:
| Pronoun | -ar (falar) | -er (comer) | -ir (abrir) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eu | falei | comi | abri |
| Você / Ele / Ela | falou | comeu | abriu |
| Nós | falamos | comemos | abrimos |
| Vocês / Eles / Elas | falaram | comeram | abriram |
Notice "nós falamos" is identical to the present tense. Context (and a time word like ontem) tells you which one.
