Months, Seasons, and Dates

To plan a trip, you need dates — and dates need months and seasons.

Months	Seasons (in the southern hemisphere!)
janeiro, fevereiro, março	verão (Dec–Feb)
abril, maio, junho	outono (Mar–May)
julho, agosto, setembro	inverno (Jun–Aug)
outubro, novembro, dezembro	primavera (Sep–Nov)

Months in Portuguese are lower-case, unlike English. The Brazilian seasons are flipped relative to the northern hemisphere — Christmas is in the middle of summer, Festa Junina is the winter highlight.

Date format: o dia [number] de [month] de [year]. "Vinte e quatro de junho" — June 24. The month is always lower-case; the de is mandatory.
