Fare & Andare

Two of the most-used verbs in Italian — and both are irregular. Learn them as a pair: every few sentences you will reach for one of them.

Pronoun Fare (to do/make) Andare (to go)
io faccio vado
tu fai vai
lui / lei fa va
noi facciamo andiamo
voi fate andate
loro fanno vanno

Fare covers "to do" and "to make" — fare una torta (to make a cake), fare sport (to play sport). Andare is the verb of motion: andare al mercato, andare a casa.
