Unreal If-Sentences
To imagine something that is not true — "if I had time…", "if I knew Finnish better…" — Finnish puts the conditional in both halves of the sentence. English makes the two halves look different ("if I had… I would…"); Finnish gives them the same -isi- ending.

The past unreal: olisi + participle
To say what would have happened, combine the conditional of olla (olisin, olisit, olisi…) with the -nut/-nyt participle.
As if — ikään kuin
Use ikään kuin or plain kuin ("as if") followed by the conditional to describe what something is like.
