Liking with pitää + -sta
Here is a lovely quirk of Finnish: to like something, you "hold from it" — the verb pitää plus the elative ending -sta/-stä. The casual synonym tykätä takes the same ending, but rakastaa ("to love") takes the partitive instead. So pidän kahvista ("I like coffee") but rakastan kahvia ("I love coffee").
