Telling the Time
To ask the time in Finnish you say Paljonko kello on? — "What time is it?". Just like German, Finnish counts toward the coming hour, so puoli kymmenen is literally "half [of] ten" but means 9:30.
Time phrases
Notice aamulla, illalla, päivällä: the "at a time" endings are the adessive -lla/-llä — time works like a surface you stand on.
