Genitive and Possessive Suffixes
To say "of" or to show possession, Finnish adds the genitive ending -n: Marinan koira = "Marina's dog", talon ovi = "the door of the house". That same ending is behind the possessive suffixes — little endings meaning "my, your, his…" stuck right onto the noun.
