Spoken Finnish: mä, sä, me ollaan

The biggest surprise for a Finnish learner: the Finnish you read (written kirjakieli) and the Finnish you hear (spoken puhekieli) can look startlingly different. Pronouns shrink, and "we do" is expressed with the passive form. You'll read kirjakieli everywhere and hear puhekieli everywhere — both are correct, just different registers.
