The Future via the Present
More good news: Finnish has no future tense. To talk about the future you use the ordinary present tense plus a time word — and context does the rest. When you want to stress an intention ("going to"), reach for the verb aikoa.
- Huomenna menen Lappiin. (Tomorrow I'll go to Lapland.)
- Ensi viikolla matkustamme junalla. (Next week we'll travel by train.)
- Aiotko sinä opiskella suomea? (Are you going to study Finnish?)
