Parts of the Body
Before you can tell a doctor what is wrong, you need the words for the body. And to say something hurts, Finnish reaches for the same "at me is..." pattern you already know: Minulla on päänsärky — literally "at me is a head-ache". Some ailments take the partitive: Minulla on kuumetta ("I have a fever"). And a special little verb, särkeä, puts you into the partitive: Minua särkee — "it aches me".
