La Casa e la Famiglia

Aggettivi possessivi e vocabolario della casa

  1. 1

My, your, our: una forma per tutto

    • In inglese il possessivo non cambia: my book, my books — né genere né plurale.
    • my (io), your (tu, voi, Lei), our (noi), their (loro).
    • Niente vostro o Suo a parte: è tutto your.
    • Mai l'articolo davanti: my house, non the my house.
    • Con il corpo e i vestiti, possessivo al posto dell'articolo: I wash my hands, Put on your coat.

His or her?

    • Its è possessivo; it's è it is.
    • Whose…? chiede di chi è qualcosa: Whose is this? — It's Marina's.
    • Un animale domestico con un nome è di solito he o she: Bidu wags his tail.

Room by room: there is, there are

Le stanze di una casa britannica, «c'è / ci sono» con there is / there are — e perché in inglese la frase ha sempre un soggetto.

    • Stanze: living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, garden; upstairs (di sopra), downstairs (di sotto).
    • C'è → there is / there's; ci sono → there are.
    • Domande: Is there…? / Are there…? — Yes, there is. / No, there aren't.
    • La frase vuole il soggetto: It's big. It has two bedrooms.
    • Have got = have, molto britannico: It's got a garden.
    • Flat (UK) = apartment (US); una camera è a room — a camera è una macchina fotografica.

The family: Mum, Dad and the rest

    • Per i gruppi misti niente maschile: fratelli → brothers and sisters; figli → children; nonni → grandparents.
    • Nipote → nephew / niece (dei fratelli) o grandson / granddaughter (dei figli).
    • Presenta con This is… / These are… e rispondi Nice to meet you.
    • Have you got any brothers or sisters? — Hai fratelli?
