The future tense, days, months and seasons
- 1
Visiteremo: the simple future
The one-word Italian future — parlerò, prenderò, dormirò — plus the spelling quirks of giocherò and mangerò, and summer promises.
Open lesson- Futuro semplice: infinitive minus -e (-are → -er-) + -ò, -ai, -à, -emo, -ete, -anno.
- -are and -ere verbs share the stem: parlerò, prenderò; -ire keeps i: dormirò.
- Spelling: giocherò, pagherò (add h); mangerò, viaggerò (drop i).
- Near, fixed plans often use the present: Domani vado a Pisa.
- Stare per + infinitive = about to: Sto per partire.

Sarò, avrò, andrò: irregular futures and the forecast
The short-stem futures — sarò, farò, verrò — the weather forecast, and a midsummer night of football and fireworks in Florence.
Open lesson- The endings stay the same; some stems shrink: andrò, avrò, dovrò, potrò, vedrò.
- Double r: vorrò, verrò, berrò, rimarrò; keep the a: farò, starò, darò; and sarò.
- Ci sarà / ci saranno — there will be.
- Forecast: farà caldo, pioverà, nevicherà, ci sarà il sole.
- The futuro can guess: Sarà a casa — he's probably at home.

Lunedì, agosto, estate: days, dates and seasons
The days of the week, the months, how to say a date — and why Florence empties out around Ferragosto.
Open lesson- Days and months are lower case; lunedì–venerdì carry an accent on the -ì.
- Lunedì = this Monday; il lunedì = every Monday.
- Dates: il 24 giugno, but il primo maggio; in August = ad agosto / in agosto.
- Seasons: la primavera, l'estate, l'autunno, l'inverno — in estate / d'estate.
- Around Ferragosto (15 August) Italy goes on holiday: chiuso per ferie.

Andiamo alle Cinque Terre!
Tickets, platforms, suitcases and bookings — già and non ancora — and the friends plan a week on the Ligurian coast.
Open lesson- Travel words: il biglietto (andata e ritorno), la stazione, il binario, la valigia, la prenotazione.
- Fare la valigia — to pack; prenotare — to book.
- Validate a paper regional ticket before boarding: convalidare il biglietto.
- With the passato prossimo: già (already), non… ancora (not yet), appena (just).
- Hai già prenotato? — Non ancora.
