Comparativo: bigger, better, more interesting

Il comparativo inglese segue una regola semplice:

Aggettivi corti (1 sillaba, alcuni di 2): + -er

• big → bigger (consonante raddoppiata)
• fast → faster
• small → smaller
• happy → happier (y → i)

Aggettivi lunghi (2+ sillabe): more + aggettivo

• interesting → more interesting
• expensive → more expensive
• beautiful → more beautiful

Comparativi irregolari (da imparare a memoria!):

• good → better (buono → migliore)
• bad → worse (cattivo → peggiore)
• far → farther / further (lontano → più lontano)
• little → less (poco → meno)
• much/many → more (molto → più)

Parola di paragone: than (di / che).

• London is bigger than Berlin. (Londra è più grande di Berlino.)
