Será, haverá: the written future and the forecast

The one-word future you'll read in forecasts, announcements and formal emails — and how to talk about the weather for a trip.

    • The one-word future = infinitive + -ei, -á, -emos, -ão: viajarei, será, partiremos, voltarão.
    • It belongs to formal language — news, forecasts, announcements, emails. In conversation, use ir + infinitive.

    • Weather has no it: vai fazer sol / calor, vai chover, vai ventar.
    • Forecast language: O dia será de sol. Haverá pancadas de chuva.
