Present Continuous

To say "I am walking" in Portuguese, you need two things: the right form of estar, and the verb in its gerúndio form. The gerúndio is built by dropping the infinitive ending and adding -ando (-ar verbs), -endo (-er), or -indo (-ir).
| Infinitive | Gerúndio | Example |
|---|---|---|
| andar | andando | Eu estou andando. — I am walking. |
| comer | comendo | Você está comendo. — You are eating. |
| abrir | abrindo | Ele está abrindo a porta. — He is opening the door. |
Notice it's estar that conjugates with the subject, not the main verb — the main verb just sits in its gerúndio form.
Drill: estar (you'll need this for every sentence)
