The subjonctif — il faut que, bien que, pour que, vouloir que

The subjonctif is the mood the French use to colour a verb with necessity, will, feeling or doubt. It almost always follows que after certain triggers. The regular forms come from the ils present stem plus -e, -es, -e, -ions, -iez, -ent — ils parl-ent → que je parle. A few indispensable irregulars: être → que je sois, avoir → que j'aie, faire → que je fasse, aller → que j'aille.

Il faut que… (one must)	Il faut que tu sois à l'heure. (You must be on time.)
Je veux que… (I want that)	Je veux que tu viennes. (I want you to come.)
Bien que… (although)	Bien qu'il fasse froid, je sors. (Although it's cold, I go out.)
Pour que… (so that)	Je parle lentement pour que tu comprennes. (I speak slowly so that you understand.)
