Preferenze e Opinioni

Prefer, like more e i comparativi irregolari

  1. 1

I love cooking: quello che ti piace fare

Da love a hate, gli hobby in -ing, play o play the — e il falso amico support.

    • love → really like → like → don't mind → don't like → hate; I don't like it at all = non mi piace per niente.
    • Il soggetto è la persona: I like football — e in generale senza the.
    • Attività in -ing: I love reading, I don't mind waiting.
    • play football (senza the) · play the guitar · listen to music · go swimming.
    • support una squadra = tifare; «non sopporto» = I can't stand.

Prefer e would like: scegliere e offrire

Prefer tea to coffee, like this more than that — e la differenza tra Do you like…? e Would you like…?

    • prefer X to Y: I prefer tea to coffee — con to, non than.
    • like X more than Y: I like the bus more than the Tube — qui sì, than.
    • Do you like…? = ti piace? (in generale); Would you like…? = vuoi?, ti va? (un'offerta).
    • I'd like = vorrei, la forma cortese di I want; con un verbo, to: I'd like to go.
    • Se per te è uguale: I don't mind — meglio di I don't care.

    Better, worse, the best

I comparativi che non seguono la regola e il superlativo: il parco più bello di Londra — con in, non con of.

    • good → better → the best; bad → worse → the worst; far → further.
    • Mai more good né more better («più meglio»).
    • Superlativo: the -est (the cheapest, the biggest, the busiest) o the most (the most beautiful).
    • «Il migliore … di» un luogo: in — the best pizza in London; con il tempo, of — the best day of my life.
    • the best thing about… = la cosa migliore di…

    Il fine settimana perfetto

Parco, divano o cinema? Marina, Luana e Marcos discutono il programma della domenica — e imparano a mettersi d'accordo in inglese.

    • Proporre: What shall we do?, How about going…?, Let's go…!
    • agree è un verbo: I agree, I don't agree — mai I am agree.
    • stay in = restare a casa; go out = uscire.
    • Confrontare le opzioni: better than, worse than, almost as big as, a better idea.
    • prefer + -ing o to + verbo: I prefer staying in, I'd prefer to watch a film.
