Söin vai olen syönyt? Past, perfect and “had”
When to use which past — mostly just as in British English — plus olin + participle for “had done”, and a lost key.
Abrir lección- A time you can name (eilen, viime vuonna, milloin?) → imperfekti: Eilen söin poroa.
- Up to now, experience, jo / vielä / koskaan → perfekti: Olen asunut täällä viisi kuukautta.
- British Have you eaten yet? = Finnish Oletko jo syönyt?
- Had done = olin + participle: Olin jo syönyt.
- Negative: en ollut syönyt — I hadn't eaten.
