In Portuguese an adjective takes the gender and number of the noun it describes — and it normally comes after the noun:

Masculine	o carro novo	os carros novos
Feminine	a casa nova	as casas novas

The endings mirror the articles: -o, -a, -os, -as. Uma casa bonita — a pretty house; uns livros novos — some new books.
