New concept
Avere: to have
Avere means to have, and it's the third verb you'll use every single day:
| Pronoun | Avere | English |
|---|---|---|
| io | ho | I have |
| tu | hai | you have |
| lui / lei / Lei | ha | he, she has / you (formal) have |
| noi | abbiamo | we have |
| voi | avete | you (a group) have |
| loro | hanno | they have |
The h is always silent: ho sounds exactly like o (or), ha like a (to), hanno like anno (year). The h is only there in writing, to tell the words apart.
- Marcos ha un cane. — Marcos has a dog.
- Abbiamo una casa a Firenze. — We have a house in Florence.
