- Sehr geehrte for a woman, sehr geehrter for a man — and titles stay: Frau Dr. Bergmann.
- Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren is for when you don't have a name.
- Once you know someone, Liebe Frau Krause / Lieber Herr Lehmann is warmer, and in many offices Hallo Frau Krause is perfectly normal.
- Sign off with Mit freundlichen Grüßen (formal) or Viele Grüße / Beste Grüße (lighter).
