New concept
Sein: to be
Sein is German's to be, and you'll use it more than any other verb. It is irregular, so its six forms simply need learning:
| Pronoun | sein | English |
|---|---|---|
| ich | bin | I am |
| du | bist | you are |
| er / sie / es | ist | he / she / it is |
| wir | sind | we are |
| ihr | seid | you (several friends) are |
| sie / Sie | sind | they are / you (polite) are |
Wir, sie and Sie share one form: sind. And ihr seid ends in a d — seit, with a t, is a different word meaning since.
