What's Happening Right Now

The present continuous and the art of dar uma volta

    • The gerúndio: drop the -r, add -ndo — falando, comendo, abrindo. It never changes.
    • Only estar agrees with the person: estou, está, estamos, estão.
    • O que você está fazendo? — in speech also Você está fazendo o quê?
    • Simple present for habits, estar + gerúndio for now: Como todo dia / Estou comendo agora.
    • In speech: tô, tá — Tô indo! Tá chovendo.
