Preferencias y Opiniones

Like, love, hate y el comparativo del inglés

  1. 1

I love cooking: lo que te gusta hacer

Del love al hate, las aficiones en -ing, play o play the — y el falso amigo support.

    • love → really like → like → don't mind → don't like → hate; I don't like it at all = no me gusta nada.
    • Actividades en -ing: I love reading, I don't mind waiting.
    • play football (sin the) · play the guitar · listen to music · go swimming.
    • Para hablar en general, sin the: I like football.
    • support un equipo = ser de un equipo; no soporto = I can't stand.

Prefer y would like: elegir y ofrecer

Prefer tea to coffee, like this more than that — y la diferencia entre Do you like…? y Would you like…?

    • prefer X to Y: I prefer tea to coffee — con to, no than.
    • like X more than Y: I like the bus more than the Tube — aquí sí, than.
    • Do you like…? = ¿te gusta? (en general); Would you like…? = ¿quieres?, ¿te apetece? (una oferta).
    • I'd like es la forma educada de I want; con verbo, to: I'd like to go.
    • Si te da igual: I don't mind — mejor que I don't care.

    Better, worse, the best

Los comparativos que no siguen la regla y el superlativo: el mejor parque de Londres — con in, no con of.

    • good → better → the best; bad → worse → the worst; far → further.
    • Nunca more good ni more better.
    • Superlativo: the -est (the cheapest, the biggest, the busiest) o the most (the most beautiful).
    • «El mejor … de» un lugar: in — the best pizza in London; con tiempo, of — the best day of my life.
    • the best thing about… = lo mejor de…

    El fin de semana perfecto

¿Parque, sofá o cine? Marina, Luana y Marcos discuten el plan del domingo — y aprenden a ponerse de acuerdo en inglés.

    • Proponer: What shall we do?, How about going…?, Let's go…!
    • agree es un verbo: I agree, I don't agree — nunca I am agree.
    • stay in = quedarse en casa; go out = salir.
    • Comparar opciones: better than, worse than, almost as big as, a better idea.
    • prefer + -ing o to + verbo: I prefer staying in, I'd prefer to watch a film.
