Conceito novo

This and that
French has one set of words for both this and that. Like le and la, they agree with the noun:
| Form | Used with | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ce | a masculine noun | ce pull — this / that jumper |
| cet | a masculine noun starting with a vowel or silent h | cet été — this summer; cet homme — this man |
| cette | a feminine noun | cette robe — this / that dress |
| ces | any plural | ces chaussures — these / those shoes |
Cet and cette sound exactly the same — the difference is only in writing. Ces sounds like English say, and links up with a following vowel: ces‿amis ("say-z-amee").
