To ask for something: Vous avez quelque chose contre la toux ? — Have you got anything for a cough? (la toux — the cough). French medicine works against things: contre la toux, contre le mal de tête. With a body part you'll also hear pour: quelque chose pour la gorge. To check: C'est sur ordonnance ? — Does it need a prescription?
Medicine is something you prendre: prendre un comprimé, prendre le sirop.
Next: conjugate prendre. Watch the plural: nous prenons, but ils prennent.
