Conceito novo

Adjectives go first — just like English

Finnish adjectives come before the noun, as in English: iso talo — a big house, pieni koira — a small dog. Or after olla: Talo on iso. — The house is big.

Finnish English Finnish English
iso / suuri big pieni small
uusi new vanha old
hyvä good huono bad
kaunis beautiful ihana lovely
hauska fun, funny mukava nice
onnellinen happy väsynyt tired

And since there's no gender, the adjective is the same for everyone: Marcos on väsynyt. Marina on väsynyt.

To say very, put hyvin in front: hyvin kaunis — very beautiful. In speech you'll often hear tosi (really): tosi kiva.
