Should, ought to, it'd be worth it

Finnish advice follows the pattern of minun täytyy from unit 9 — the person goes in the genitive (minun, sinun, hänen…), and the verb stays in the hän form:

Finnish English
Sinun pitäisi nukkua enemmän. You should sleep more.
Sinun kannattaisi tulla aikaisin. It'd be worth your while coming early. / You'd do well to come early.
Minun pitäisi soittaa äidille. I ought to ring my mum.
Meidän ei pitäisi myöhästyä. We shouldn't be late.

Pitäisi is a duty, should; kannattaisi (from kannattaa, to be worth it) is friendly, practical advice. The negative is simply ei in front: Sinun ei kannattaisi… — you'd better not…
