Werden + infinitive
German does have a future tense. It's built with werden in second place and the infinitive at the very end:
Ich werde dich vermissen. — I will miss you.
| Pronoun | werden | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ich | werde | Ich werde anrufen. — I'll call. |
| du | wirst | Du wirst es lieben. — You'll love it. |
| er / sie / es | wird | Es wird regnen. — It's going to rain. |
| wir | werden | Wir werden sehen. — We'll see. |
| ihr | werdet | Ihr werdet lachen. — You'll laugh. |
| sie / Sie | werden | Sie werden kommen. — They'll come. |
Du wirst and er wird are irregular — and there's no d in wirst.
Watch out: ich will does not mean I will. It means I want. The future is ich werde.
