The conditional — in Brazilian grammar books, o futuro do pretérito — is Portuguese for would. It's one of the easiest tenses: take the whole infinitive and add -ia, -íamos, -iam.

Only three verbs shorten the stem — the same three as in the future: dizer → diria, fazer → faria, trazer → traria. The rest are regular, even the big irregulars: ter → teria, ir → iria, and ser → seria, which you can try next.
