Reflexive verbs, telling time, and a day in Luana's life
- 1
Reflexive verbs: eu me levanto
Getting up, getting dressed, going to bed — the verbs you do to yourself, the Brazilian way.
Lektion öffnen- A reflexive verb carries -se in the infinitive: levantar-se, vestir-se, deitar-se, chamar-se.
- The pronoun matches the subject: me, se, nos, se — eu me levanto, ela se levanta, nós nos levantamos, eles se levantam.
- In Brazil it goes before the verb — in speech even at the start of a sentence: Me chamo Marina.
- In the present, vestir-se is irregular only for eu: me visto.
- Como você se chama? — Eu me chamo… asks and gives a name.
