- Un becomes une before a feminine noun: une bouteille, un livre.
- 11 to 16 are single words to learn by heart. Then French counts “ten-seven, ten-eight, ten-nine”: dix-sept, dix-huit, dix-neuf — with a hyphen.
- A few sounds to note: cinq “sank”, six “sees”, sept “set” (the p is silent), huit “weet”, dix “dees”, vingt “van”.
With avoir you can now give your age in words: J'ai vingt ans. — I'm twenty.
